Meet Our Booksellers
-
Anna
Anna is a lover of short and weird books. When she’s in a reading slump, she fills her time rock climbing, visiting lighthouses, wandering around IKEA, and watching horror movies.
-
Reyen
Reyen is usually bundled up doing homework on the weekdays, however, on the weekends everything is put aside for reading and reading only! Her latest reads always depend on her mood.
-
Makena
Makena indulges herself in pretty prose when she’s not journaling away on the UW campus or at a nearby cafe. Always favoring books with unique perspectives; like that of a fig tree or second person POV.
-
Kathy
Kathy loves originality and good writers who give themselves ‘hard’ assignments (e.g. only two characters; time travel we’re supposed to find credible). She believes deeply in stories and their sharing.
-
Steve
Steve can often be found walking around Burien, listening to audiobooks about nature, science, and dogs. You may not recognize him without Bubba, his and Kathy’s wonderful and loyal pup!
-
Ellis
Ellis thinks of himself as an omnivorous reader– talk to him about poetry, cozy mysteries, plotless trans fiction, film criticism, haunted house horror, translated literature, unlikeable narrators, or any book that made you cry recently. When he’s not reading or writing, he’s playing fetch with his pitbull, Stevie.
-
Penny
Penny is a retired English Lit teacher & feels like she has landed in heaven working in an indie bookstore. Reading is a passion along with the theater, her family, her two kitties, Louie and Bella, and her love of all things Italian. Her last name “Porcelli” translates to little pig which helps to explain why she gobbles up life on a daily basis.
-
Emily
When she’s not working at the bookstore on the weekends, Emily can be sighted commuting to work on the Line with a literature fiction, fantasy, or horror novel in hand. She embraces the cozy lifestyle dabbling in painting and writing with a cup of coffee or tea always within reach.
-
Gael
Gael loves all sorts of genres but gravitates towards romances, especially when the main character doesn't just fall in love, but learns to love themself. She also loves weird books, where she doesn't over analyze their "meaning" and just enjoys the crazy ride. She is a volunteer librarian for the book tracking website The StoryGraph!

Bubba
Whatever makes my humans laugh is good. Dad’s been reading training books and has a bunch recommended in the nature section. He’s right. The ones he’s chosen made us closer.
